Talk about a gift! One of the biggest sources of insecurity is simply not knowing how to live. But Jesus came with the answer, saying “everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
But he cautioned listeners that they have a choice and need to choose wisely because the choice has consequences— everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
Building your life on the truth leads to a solidly built life that stands the tests of time. We all will face trials and pain, but who can endure them? The wise builder who took this gift of guidance to heart.
But if we choose otherwise, we get the quite literal opposite outcome— We will not stand. Life eventually will show you that you made a very (painful) wrong choice. Take the gift of the Lord’s guidance to heart, not just this Christmas, but every day.
