John 10:2-3,5
The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice, But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.
1 John 3:1
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
There was a video Father introducing his son to the child’s uncle. The encounter seemed normal enough if you ignore the fact the Father and his brother were twins. The hilarious encounter, where the child couldn’t seem to understand how there were “two daddies,” brought the family lot’s of amusement, but it also conjured thoughts of the word’s of Jesus and his disciple, John.
Christian’s encounter many who “have an appearance of godliness,” but aren’t truly reflecting that from within. Thanks be to God for that still small voice, that gentle and humble calling we hear from our Lord, our Shepherd, Jesus.
As scripture tells us, he is the “the image of the invisible God,” Colossians 1:15, and if and when we know him, we have known and seen God the Father as well. Through the Life and words of Jesus, we get the greatest, most vivid revelation of our Father, and through Jesus, we will not be easily fooled.
If ever we have any issues, feel we can’t hear him, we should pray and seek. What good Father doesn’t want his children to know and love him?
